Brendan Rodgers, the current manager of Leicester city has purchased multiple new players during this season and they are expecting a yearly loss of £119.5 million. This season thus far, they have lost the cash in comparison to other teams in the Premier League.
Only Manchester United’s losses are close to Leicester, but then again on the field, they have scored and won a couple of games lately, but the defeat to Brighton by 5-2 is a devastating one. Last season, Manchester United spent a lot on Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Rapahel Varane.
Thus far only one outfield player was purchased by Leicester City this year, Wout Faes and their crucial defender, Wesley Fofana was sold to Chelsea right before the transfer period closed for $69.5 million.
Now, with the recent political and economical situation that Europe is undergoing, especially England, most of the population is struggling to pay their own bills. These large amounts of money being spent may appear to the general public as the football clubs are being out of touch from reality.
The next most important segment for Rodgers to look at is the winnings of Leicester City. His main goal is for the team to win as many medals as possible and to disrupt the current hierarchy where the bigger and more well known teams are constantly staying on top.
Leicester’s manager admits that the team’s current aim is to get 40 points this season. He told the media, “I always know there is a spin on words. I have a huge respect for the board. There is no way that I ever had a notion to expose them. They have been honest enough to say how it is. Top’s notes have made it clear in terms of the thinking behind the why of the situation.
“It has clearly been a really difficult market for us. But the bigger picture was the club. For me, it is a non-story from today. Now, it is about everyone coming together. We bring on the fight and have this collective common goal of winning games and being a team.”
As the battle goes stronger with each game, Rodgers and his team would have to improve their performances. Thus far under the leadership of Rodgers, Leicester has not lost three games consecutively which shows improvement regardless of the team still being at the bottom.
After winning the Premier League last year, Manchester City, the well performing club in contrast to their buddy from the same neighbourhood, Manchester United, collected a whopping £153 million in prize money. They finally accepted the prize last month, according to the Premier League.
Pep Guardiola, the manager for Manchester City managed to direct the team in a way that it triumphed all the way through five seasons. They defeated Aston Villa and also Liverpool. Manchester City received roughly £34 million just based on merit due to finishing first.
The ‘merit’ cash is then distributed to all other leagues based on their final position. That is an additional £7 million worldwide. Manchester City and Liverpool both made their history last year after receiving a large amount of pay-outs, but the irony here is that the teams that are on the bottom of the list also received quite a sum of money.
A team that finished relatively last in the previous season of the Premier League, Norwich, had only five wins and 26 losses. They had 84 goals allowed and are the first team in history to collect £100 million in prize money.
They had to pay the same for facility fees among the likes of Burnley and Watford. The two teams that were able to enter the Championship. Their merit payments however were lower than the higher performing teams.
However, as crazy as this sounds, relatively all of the teams in the Premier League received over £100 million as prize money. Half of that were equal distributions to each team that are valued at £49 million for international and £32 million for UK fees.
Europa League comparison
Next, as the Premier League teams are conquering the Europa League, Manchester United and Arsenal are set to be on the field. Manchester United, after finishing in sixth place last season, qualified to enter. If they are able to win any trophies this time, it would have a nice payout for the teams.
The total prize pool for the Europa League is £403.5 million, when compared to the Champions League, it is at a whopping £1.75 billion. Both Arsenal and United will receive
£4.2 million each if they win all six of their competitions.
They also stand a chance to win an additional £13 million for their performance if they win the Europa League trophy. The total prize money that can be given out to the teams would be £17.2 million, probably enough to buy half of a star player with inflation adjusted.
Premier League clubs: How much money will they make off the World Cup?
Since most of the Premier League clubs are losing their best players for at least a month for the World Cup, they would obviously need to be compensated. The topic on whether the compensation is enough or not is for another time as the clubs spent a lot of money to obtain their players.
FIFA has a payment scheme when their respective countries are leasing back their players. It is called the Club Benefits Programme, which would pay the Premier League clubs about £8,100 for every day one of their players is in the tournament.
The time taken for the preparation of the Premier League players to warm up before the World Cup would also be compensated to the clubs. Julian Alvarez, an Argentine forward, is responsible for the majority of that, having reached the final, where each club receives around £297,000 for each player involved.
There will be prize money involved with the Premier League players if they win for their own country. The prize money decreases as a player progresses through the competition, roughly working out to £257,000 for the semi-finals, £225,000 for the quarter-finals, £177,000 for the last-16, and £144,000 for the group stage.
How much exactly will each of the Premier League clubs make?

Final window for Premier League clubs to transfer players
Numerous Premier League clubs are still in the market hunting for new players, however time is not exactly on their side as the transfer window is about to close. Many are still attempting to complete their team.
Most teams such as Manchester United are keen to add new players, meanwhile there are some that want to drop their existing players after finding their suitable replacements.
Tottenham has been benefiting greatly with this current transfer period as they managed to grab high scores, and as stated recently have scored over 1000 goals joining the ranks of Chelsea and Arsenal. Antonio Conte recently purchased six new players for his team.
Stated by the press, this is done to solidify Tottenham’s new position on the field, and to increase their chances of winning the title this season. In this current season, Conte has spent over £100 million in purchasing Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence.
However, through striking a deal, Conte managed to get Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Clement Lenglet on loan for this season. Regardless of Tottenham already having superb players, their coach still insists on getting more before the transfer period ends. More funds are required to do so.
Football fans on Twitter are not entirely happy with the whole transfer debacle in general. Some stated that this is possible because of the billionaires pouring money in and its also happening due to the strong competitiveness of the English Premier League.
Some mentioned that the English Clubs managed to spend so much on players while other leagues such as the LaLiga leagues don’t have as much funding. LaLiga fans took to tweeting to mock the English Premier League, listing the achievements of said league while mentioning that the public’s opinion still stays that the EPL is the best.
The transfer period for the league will close on September 1, which is only a few days away. Most major teams have settled their transfers in the past weeks, but teams such as Manchester United and Tottenham are doing their very best to get the players they want right before this deadline.
On the other extreme end of things, contrasting to Tottenham, Liverpool has been conservative in the sense of player transfers. A report shows that Liverpool’s transfer age is lesser when compared to the other big boys.
It is noted that they are taking a bold decision in not recruiting players as much as Chelsea, Manchester City and United. They are ranked the highest on the list when it comes to transfers, however Liverpool’s rate is as high as Southampton, Leeds United and Brentford.
