When Janet Todd enters the Circle at ONE Fight Night 8 on Amazon Video, she looks ready to unleash her anger as the interim atom weight Muay Thai champion of ONE.

JT will compete against Allycia Hellen Rodrigues of Brazil to unify the atom weight Muay Thai world championship. In July of last year, the American defeated Lara Fernandez by a unanimous vote to win the interim belt.

As she prepares for her forthcoming title battle, Todd is riding a seven-fight winning streak. She has won matches via stoppage over Anne Line Hogstad, Ekaterina Vandaryeva, and Wang Chin Long.

Janet Todd expresses her enthusiasm for the American Muay Thai scene

The 37-year-old interim atom-weight Muay Thai queen is happy to watch the growth of her discipline worldwide. She stated to the ONE Championship:

“I think in the United States, we have like the United States Muay Thai Federation that’s been doing some really big things for the sport, not just for women, but for Muay Thai in general. That’s actually been helping and has been giving more women more experience in tournaments, bringing up their experience so that they can compete on the world stage. And most recently, at IFMA World Games, a lot of women from our U.S. team medaled against people that competed from all over the world.”

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues, a striking prodigy, will present Todd with a difficult challenge as she seeks to bring the undisputed world title home to the United States. The 24-year-old, who hasn’t competed since August 2020, is regarded as a top potential after defeating Stamp Fairtex by a majority decision in her promotional debut.

Muay Thai fighter Jacie Buntan exceptionally knocked out Diandra Martin, making her way to a remarkable victory in the first round of the ONE Championship. 

Buntan’s win shows her determined and competent attitude in the ring. She now stands with 5 wins and 1 loss at the competition.

The Filipino-American fighter faced an Australian that is 4 inches taller than her, having a height advantage. However, despite the differences, she undoubtedly used her boxing skills to land clean shots.

Small but deadly Buntan

Buntan also gave punch combinations in the first round, before her blow with an overhand right against the cage that finished the bout. 

Jackie Buntan is a former ONE Women’s Strawweight Muay Thai World Title challenger and started learning martial arts in her preteen years under the guidance of the well-known Muay Thai coach Bryan Popejoy and ONE Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing and Interim Muay Thai World Champion Janet “JT” Todd. 

Through her perseverance and commitment, Buntan qualified to compete for the United States at the 2018 IFMA Pan American Championship. She proudly bagged a win for her represented country.
